Weather-aware navigation for motorcyclists. We're a small team — if something isn't working, we want to know.

Common Questions

I'm not getting background weather alerts during my ride.

ArriveDry watches your route in the background and sends alerts when rain is approaching. If alerts aren't arriving, check these in order:

  1. Location permission: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → ArriveDry → select Always. “While Using” is not enough for background alerts.
  2. Notifications: iOS Settings → ArriveDry → Notifications → make sure they're enabled.
  3. Background watch: In ArriveDry → Settings → Voice & Alerts → confirm “Background weather watch” is toggled on and shows a green dot (Ready).
  4. Focus / Do Not Disturb: ArriveDry sends time-sensitive notifications that break through Focus modes — but double-check that your Focus settings aren't blocking all apps.

💡 The app shows a yellow banner if it detects the background check hasn't run recently. If you see it, tap to review your permissions.

Voice alerts aren't speaking.

Voice alerts play through the speaker even when the iPhone ringer switch is in silent mode — but check these if you hear nothing:

  • In ArriveDry → Settings → Voice & Alerts, confirm the Voice alerts switch is on.
  • Make sure your device volume isn't turned all the way down.
  • If you're using Bluetooth headphones or a helmet communicator, confirm ArriveDry's audio is routed to your preferred output in iOS Settings → Bluetooth.

The route isn't computing or search isn't finding my destination.

  • Check your internet connection — ArriveDry needs network access to fetch routes and weather.
  • Try typing a more specific address rather than a place name.
  • If you long-press anywhere on the map, ArriveDry will drop a pin and route directly to that point.

The radar isn't loading.

Radar tiles come from RainViewer and require an internet connection. If the overlay is blank:

  • Tap the refresh button in the radar panel to force a reload.
  • Check your connection. The radar will load automatically once connectivity is restored.
  • RainViewer occasionally has brief outages — routing and weather alerts continue working via a separate data source.

Navigation ended but the Live Activity is still showing.

The Live Activity (Dynamic Island / lock screen pill) lingers for about 60 seconds after arrival so you can see your final ETA at a glance. It dismisses itself automatically. You can also swipe it away from the lock screen.

How do I add stops to my route?

After you've set a destination, tap Add a stop in the route bar. Search for your intermediate stop and tap it — ArriveDry inserts it and recomputes the route. You can reorder stops with the ↑↓ arrows or remove them with ✕.

How do I save a ride for later?

With a route planned, tap Save ridein the route bar. Give it a name and it'll appear at the top of your search results next time. Saved rides store your destination, any stops, travel mode, and routing preferences.

How do I set a Home or Work shortcut?

Tap the empty Home or Work pill below the search bar. The next destination you search will be saved to that slot. Long-press an existing pill to edit or clear it.

What's the difference between the in-app watch and the server-side watch?

ArriveDry runs two layers of weather monitoring:

  • In-app: While the app is on screen, ArriveDry checks weather every 60 seconds and speaks alerts through your device.
  • Background / server: Once you start a ride, our server monitors your route every 3 minutes and sends push notifications if rain approaches — even if iOS has suspended the app entirely. This is the safety net that covers you when your phone is in your pocket.

How accurate are the weather alerts?

ArriveDry uses Apple WeatherKit as its primary forecast source — the same data that powers the iOS Weather app. Alerts fire when precipitation probability exceeds 50% and intensity exceeds 0.5 mm, which filters out forecast noise that most weather apps show as rain but riders don't feel.

Weather forecasting is not perfect, especially at hyper-local scales. Always use your own judgment on the road.
